PUK co-leader Lahur Sheikh Jangi received Jeanine Plasschaert, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Iraq, on May 9, 2020 in his resting place at Dabashan.

Regarding the meeting, Lahur Sheikh Jangi wrote in his Facebook account, "Very insightful discussions with Jeanine Plasschaert, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Iraq on key issues in both Iraq and Kurdistan. Expressed our hopes that the new government formation led by newly elected Prime Minister Mustafa Al Kadhimi will be an inclusive one focusing on solutions and creating an environment that can work to better serve all the components of Iraq. In the discussions, focus was also on Erbil and Baghdad relations and the need to work closely together to fulfill our pledges to our people. The constitution of Iraq must serve as the framework for governance. In light of recent developments, we spoke of the Slemani Provincial Council’s call for decentralization and the ways in which this can be implemented to distribute power and resources more equally and fairly. We also spoke about the global pandemic and the efforts taken by the Kurdistan Regional Government, Health Ministry and in particular the Health Directorate in Slemani to contain the virus."
