Lahur Talabany receives Gen. Eric Hill, addressing political and security issues

PUK Co-leader Lahur Sheikh Jangi received Maj. Gen. Eric T. Hill, the commanding general of Special Operations Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve, in Slemani, May 21, 2020.

The meeting was to address the latest political and security issues in Iraq, and the threat of terrorism in the region.

Both sides talked over the question of forming new Iraqi government by the new PM, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, and reiterated that the new Iraqi government shall be a serving and comprehensive one in order to be successful.

Furthermore, the security issues in Iraq and Syria was another part of the meeting. Both sides emphasized that the ISIS organization is still a major threat in the region, especially as the organization have taken benefit from the economic crisis and the spread of coronavirus to reorganize its hidden and terrorist cells.

In regard to this, Eric Hill praised the tasks and activities of Counter-Terrorism Forces that have fought alongside the U.S army against the terrorists since 2003. He stated that the Counter-Terrorism Forces had a great and important role in confronting the terrorist groups, and reiterated that the U.S Special Forces are ready for every mutual mission with Counter-Terrorism Forces, and will always support them so as to provide more peace, stability and security in Iraq and the region.
