Dr. Barham Salih’s office issued a statement about Salih’s meeting with former Kurdistan Region’s president Masoud Barzani, stating that: Iraq’s House of Representative should have the final decision on Iraq’s presidential position, which is a step to break the parties’ pre-consensus and for now, a democratic public demand.

In a bid to arrange the interior home of Kurdistan, on September 28, Dr. Barham Salih  visited Masoud Barzani for the purpose of negotiation over the Iraqi presidency subject and the upcoming incidents regarding the Iraqi government formation.

For thus, we assure that although Iraq’s presidential post is a share of Kurds, settling the position will be achieved when the Kurdistan’s political status is normal. But unfortunately, at the very moment most of the parties are not ready to sit together, and for this election the nominees are not just of PUK and PDK, but independent candidates as well. And If Iraq’s president is to represent all the Iraqi people including Kurdsitan then Iraq’s parliament ought to give the concluding decision on the issue, which is an attempt to break the parties’ pre-consensus and for now, a democratic public demand.
