Deputy PM of Kurdistan Region, Qubad Talabani, met up with Tomas Sedlacek, Chief Macroeconomic Strategist at ČSOB and a former member of the National Economic Council of the Czech Republic, in Erbil, on Sunday, Oct 25 to discuss developing Kurdistan Region’s economy.
The visit of Sedlacek, who is the owner of several international awards, was prepared in cooperation with Czech’s Foreign Ministry, and the purpose of the visit is to propose some suggestions to Kurdistan Region about improving economic sector, the pattern of variegating the Kurdistan Region’s revenues, and to avoid depending on oil as the only source of income.
During the meeting, Talabani explained the economic situation of Kurdistan Region, and the government’s plans and aims to variegate the sources of income to Sedlacek as he addressed the importance of taking advantage from Czech Republic for their success in revival and economy.
In turn, Sedlacek expressed his readiness to transform Czech Republic’s successful experience to Kurdistan Region through consultation and giving recommendations so that Kurdistan Region will get rid of depending on one source for its income.
The popular Czech economist’s visit is part of Qubad Talabani’s attempts to bring the model of triumphant countries to Kurdistan Region in the fields of agriculture, electronic government and other fields.
