PUK Co-leader Lahur Talabany received Steve Puckering, Head of the International Coalition Project for the unification of the Peshmerga forces, in Slemani, on Tuesday, Oct 27, 2020.

During the meeting, both sides addressed the process of unification and reform in Peshmarga forces.

"We discussed the process towards a course of action in regard to the unification and reform of the Peshmerga forces and I affirmed my unrelenting support. Any military establishment in need of reform and organization, such as the 70 and 80 forces, must take into consideration that unity is fundamental, especially regarding military duties." Talabany wrote in his Facebook account.

He went further to add, "I stated that reform should be subject to all sectors of the government. The government must work impartially towards the cities and provinces that fall under the Kurdistan Regional Government. Governance must be organized away from the framework of the decentralization of any administrations."

Concerning the threats of ISIS in Iraq and the region, PUK Co-leader asked for continued cooperation and coordination with Peshmarga forces in order to better eliminate the threats of ISIS, "We also discussed the continuing threat of ISIS and asked the international coalition for their continuous military support of the Peshmerga forces." Lahur Talabany said.
