The United Nations calls for a radical solution of the issues existing between Baghdad and Erbil, stating that the issue of Kurdistan Regional employees’ salary must not be mixed with political disputes.

The Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jenin Hennes Blachart, said: “The salary of Kurdistan Region’s employees must not be mixed with political problems, and must be resolved soon.”

She also added, during a meeting in the International Security Council, “Until Erbil and Baghdad will find a radical solution, their relations will not be better than now.”

“Though in the last Iraqi parliamentary voting for financial deficit bill revealed that their relation is such a complicated and sluggish one, we seek both sides to behave in a transparent and responsible way in all the fields.” Blachart pointed out.

She further stated: “We all agree that the presence of positive and constructive tie between federal government and Kurdistan Regional government is the stability key for the whole Iraq.”
