Barham Salih and Kosrat Rasul back a firm, comprehensive accord between KRI and Federal govt

Head of the Supreme Political Council of PUK, Kosrat Rasul, received Iraqi President, Barham Salih, in Slemani, to discuss Iraq’s current status and the role of Kurds in it, on Monday, January 4, 2021.

Rasul reiterated that Kurds must work unified and as one team towards resolving the accumulated previous problems.

“For this purpose, all the forces, political parties and political leaders should take the supreme national interests into account while taking step, and to work by one mutual attitude and national project to bypass this phase.” Rasul said.

The current relation between Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) and federal government was another part of the meeting, in which both sides highlighted the importance of reaching a comprehensive and firm accord between Kurdistan Region and Iraq under the umbrella of Iraq’s constitution, in a way that could preserve the legal and constitutional rights.

The internal issues of Kurdistan Region was also another aspect of their meeting, in which they abided each other that the existing issues and crises shall be resolved by the participation of all the political parties.
