On Thursday, Jan 14, PUK co-leader Lahur Talabany visited Baghdad and met up with Iraqi President Barham Salih to talk over guaranteeing Kurdistan Region's share in the Iraqi Budget Law for 2021.

"In Baghdad, we met with Iraqi President Barham Salih joined by a number of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) politburo and leadership council members to discuss the efforts to pass the 2021 federal budget of Iraq, and the share of the Kurdistan Region in the draft budget." PUK co-leader wrote in his Facebook account.

Talabany further added, "We reiterated on a unified voice and stance by the Kurdish factions in Baghdad in order to settle the outstanding issues for the sake of our people’s livelihood and to guarantee the Kurdistan Region’s public sector employees’ salaries."

Then he extended his gratitude to Dr Jwan Ihsan for her work and commitment in parliament and announced the appointment of Ala Talabani as the new head of the PUK bloc in the Iraqi parliament.
