PUK faction in the parliament of Iraq calls on the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to implement the Baghdad-Erbil agreement and hand over the specified amount of oil mentioned in the Iraqi budget bill to Baghdad.
The faction also calls on Iraqi government, in return, to send the salaries of employees and financial shares of Kurdistan Region.
In a press conference, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s bloc in the Iraq’s House of Representative stated “The people of Kurdistan Region are now facing severe financial crisis, and the issues of both governments [KRG and federal governments] have left impact on the livelihood of people.”
As a bid to build trust, the faction asked the KRG to start implementing the accord at first, and to deliver the amount of oil specified upon the Kurdistan Region in the Iraq’s 2021 budget bill so as to guarantee the employees’ salaries after the bill will be passed in the parliament.
It also called on the Iraqi government to show its commitment to the agreement by providing the salary and financial quota of farmers, which by taking this step aids in resolving most of the outstanding issues between KRG and Baghdad.
