On Sunday, Feb 21, Shanz Ibrahim Ahmed, Member of the PUK politburo’s Executive Body hel a meeting with the General Director of Slemani Health Directorate and a number of hospital and health center directors, doctors and health workers within the Slemani governorate.

The meeting, which was attended by the General Director of Halabja Health Directorate as well, touched on the current situation of health sector, efforts to face the coronavirus and the risks of the new strain of the virus. 

Dr. Sabah Hawrami, General Director of Slemani Health Directorate, introduced a report on the current situation of health sector, pointing to the obstacles that stand in the way of implementing efforts.

Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed asserted that doctors and health workers have important tasks and duties. “As PUK, we will not forget the loyalty and sincerity of doctors and health workers in carrying out this important humanitarian duty in spite of the deduction and delay in the distribution of salaries, partucularly during the period of quarantine and the spread of COVID-19,” she added.

She also reiterated that the Kurdistan Regional Government should pay special attention to the health sector, secure the demands and needs of hospitals, and prepare well to confront any health problem or obstacle. 

Moreover, she emphasized that PUK will continue to back the health sector and will try, through new plans and projects, to obtain the rights and privileges of doctors and health workers in Kurdistan Region.
