Deputy Health Minister of Kurdistan Region states that the new strain of coronavirus is increasing gradually in the region, and will increase further after the mid of March.

Dr. Rahel Faraidon, Deputy Health Minister of Kurdistan Region, said “We have controlled our borders with Iran via the airports in a good way. No one can cross the border without having COVID-19 test before arrival.”

However, Faraidon stated that ” The cause of raising coronavirus data is due to continuous travelling of people between Kurdistan Region and the rest of Iraq without any censor.”

He added,” The traveling are ongoing still, and have not been censored adequately.”

Regarding whether Kurdistan Regional Government declares lock down or quarantine,” Kurdistan Region has not reached a level yet to announce quarantine.” He said.
