The 24th Galawezh Literary Festival launched today in Slemani under the title of “Dialogue of Removing the Masks”, where many authors, intellectuals, academics and political figures attended.

At the opening of the festival, Mala Bakhtiyar, the organizer of the Galawezh Literary Festival and member of the Supreme Political Council of PUK delivered a speech stating, "The Galawezh Literary Center provided great services to Kurdish literature and art, and contributed to all intellectual writers from many countries of the world."

"We begin the activities of this session of the Galawezh Festival in tough circumstances. There are fears of disaccord between the political parties," Bakhtiyar highlighted.

Regarding the forthcoming Iraq’s parliamentary election, he said, "The forthcoming election in Iraq is very significant. Some parties that are afraid of losing their seats will render problems either prior the elections or following the elections, because they are not democratic parties and do not recognize the democratic system."

Concerning the file of redrafting the Kurdistan Region’s constitution, which is currently being discussed among the political parties, Mala Bakhtiyar stated "Drafting the constitution is a very important matter and the political parties must agree on it swiftly."
