The Co-Leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Lahur Talabany, visited the Shaab teahouse in Slemani, on Tuesday.

"Whenever you want to have a good cup of tea over a game of checkers and dominoes, hear the latest news stories, and listen to original Kurdish music in a peaceful atmosphere in the heart of Slemani’s bazaar, you immediately think of Shaab teahouse. Today we visited Shaab teahouse as they reopened after a renovation." Lahur Talabany said.

He added, "We congratulated the family and loyal staff of the teahouse, and the people of Slemani. This teahouse has become a cultural and intellectual center and is one of the prominent symbols of Slemani. It has an ancient history with artists, poets, intellectuals, writers, and media, who consider it their second home. For over 70 years this tea house has been at the service of the people of this city."

He then extended his gratitude to the Mam Humanitarian Foundation for renovating this symbolic venue while taking into account and protecting the city's architectural mark which is an important step towards keeping the city alive and protecting the historic and ancient sites that have become a part of the city's identity.

"As the Presidency of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), we emphasized that this is a small gift for the city and that Slemani is worthy of much more than that. It is our duty to serve this beloved city and its people, who have struggled due to political conflict, monopoly, and the imbalance of power. We are putting our efforts forth to restore that balance in this city and the Kurdistan Region. We must not allow this city to become the center of political conflicts. We must try to solve the problems facing our city and the Kurdistan Region by understanding the other sides. We have extended our brotherly hand to all political parties, and we have formed a coalition to protect this city from political conflict." PUK Co-Leader asserted.
