PUK Co-Leader, Bafel Talabani, welcomed Juan Jose Escobar, the Spanish Ambassador to Iraq, at the headquarter of the PUK Political Bureau, on Thursday, Jul 29.

The meeting touched upon the relations between the two sides, the political developments and the upcoming Iraqi elections, and emphasis was placed on expanding cooperation and coordination between the two sides at all levels that serve the mutual interests.

Bafel Talabani addressed the outstanding issues in the region and the vision of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan on all the issues, declaring that the Patriotic Union is with understanding and dialogue to address the problems and to create an appropriate atmosphere for holding transparent and fair elections that responds to the demand of all parties and serves political, social and economic stability.

"As PUK and the Gorran Movement and within the framework of Kurdistan Coalition, we are working to unify the forces within the Kurdistan Region, and as one team, we intent to demand our constitutional rights in Baghdad," he said.

PUK Co-leader added, "The Kurdistan Coalition was formed in order to unite the forces within the region and to protect the public interests. After the election, our priority will be to create a national alliance between all Kurdish political parties."

Concerning the internal and organizational affairs, PUK Co-leader talked about changes and improvements that have been done to correct the party's path. He reiterated that from now on, there will be a new Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and that the political and organizational work of the party is run according to the correct and civic foundations.
