On Sunday, Sep 26, the Co-Leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Bafel Talabani met up with the leaders of the PUK at the political bureau building in Kirkuk.

In the meeting, they discussed the Iraqi parliament elections, the success of the Kurdistan Coalition, solving the problems of Kirkuk, providing more services to the Kirkuk people, and organizing partisan work within the governorate.

PUK Co-Leader delivered a speech during the meeting on the general situation and the new policy of the PUK which is in the public interest and explained: "Kirkuk is a red line for the PUK, and as President Mam Jalal said; Kirkuk is the Quds of Kurdistan, so serving Kirkuk and the Kirkukis is at the forefront of our struggle and that all our efforts are to preserve the Kurdistani identity of Kirkuk."

"The results of the referendum and the failure to take into account the proposals of friendly countries have caused great harm to us, but we have not lost hope. The PUK will not leave the Kirkukis even for an hour. We will continue to stay here for the future and provide services as the duty of the leadership in Kirkuk is firm protection to achieve the demands of the Kirkukis and serve the city," Bafel Talabani said.

He also thanked the supervisor of the Kurdistan Coalition's campaign committee for carrying out the tasks successfully in Kirkuk.

"The success of the Kurdistan Coalition in Kirkuk is a guarantor of protecting the Kurdistani identity of the city and the coexistence of all nationalities and components, so we must strive to obtain the largest number of votes so that the Kurdistan Coalition can be at the fore front in providing services to Kirkuk and Kirkukis," Talabani said.

"In this succeeding station, Kirkukis will get the lion's share of the success of the Kurdistan Coalition."

During the meeting, many other issues related to Kirkuk were also discussed and evaluated as necessary.
