The Co-Leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Bafel Jalal Talabani, met up with the president of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Masoud Barzani, on Monday, to address the latest political and security developments in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

The two sides discussed the latest political, security and economic developments in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq and the region, and the contribution of the Kurds in the next Iraqi government.
Both sides streesed on Kurdish national unity and unifying efforts to solve problems and serve the people of Kurdistan.

The meeting also shed light on the new phase in Iraq following the elections, emphasizing on the importance of the Kurds to have a unified discourse in Baghdad, and they reiterated the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Democratic Party's keenness on the unity of the Kurdish home.

Furthermore, the necessity of having a joint national project on the basis of national interests for all political issues were addressed along with establishing a joint program to deal with the issue of forming the next Iraqi government, the principles of partnership in governance, the demands of citizens and stability.
