Bafel Jalal Talabani received on Wednesday the French ambassador to Iraq, Eric Chevalier, and French Consul General to Kurdistan Region, Olivier Decottignies.

In the meeting, Bafel Jalal Talabani asserted that “PUK tried with all of its efforts to negotiate with Iraqi political parties as one team and to enter talks by one Kurdistani political and national card, and they did it.” However Talabani highlighted that, “That will was destroyed later, and the unity was demolished outside the will and Kurdish people’s interests.”

He added, “There are still opportunities to form a serving and impressive government on the ground of consensus and mutual and national partnership to bring about prosperity and political stability, rather than division and leading the country to unclear and complicated future.”

Moreover, Bafel Jalal Talabani noted that, “PUK is passionate about preserving the culture of coexistence and consensus, which Jalal Talabani built its foundations, and will continue to protect that coexistence.”

During the meeting, the ISIS threats and cooperation among Peshmarga, Iraqi forces and International Coalition’s advisors were also addressed.
