Bafel Jalal Talabani received the Finland’s ambassador to Iraq, Matti Lassila, on Sunday to address the current political, security and economic aspects of Iraq and Kurdistan Region.
In the meeting, Bafel Jalal Talabani expressed PUK’s views about the latest political developments and efforts to make the next Iraqi cabinet, saying “When we talk about a serving and consensus government on the ground of real partnership, it is for the sake of more political, security, and economic stability.”
“The policy of self-imposed majority and marginalizing any party shall not be practiced,” he said.
Adding, “In this period, such thoughts and steps will lead Iraq and Kurdistan Region’s situation towards chaos, and the obstacles will be more in front of the reforms and serving.”
Talabani highlighted, “As Kurds, we support national unity for every questions, and we do not want to step outside national front, but when agreements are being made outside national and public interests PUK will take its own strategy and seek other resolving ways.”
He also reiterated that PUK will protect public interests when it takes any steps, and will hold the national rights above every positions and entitlements.
The role of the international coalition in the fight against ISIS was also praised, and the coordination and cooperation between the Peshmarga and Iraqi forces were regarded as a factor of stability and security.
