On Sunday, May 29, Amin Babasheikh, member of politburo and Head of PUK Relations Bureau received Gregory Galligan, Canadian Ambassador to Iraq, and Yves Duval, Head of the Canadian Embassy Office in Erbil.

In the meeting, they focused on the latest developments in the political situation in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, especially the issues of forming the Iraqi government and the deadlock in the political process, both sides stressed that the issues should be resolved through political dialogue based on the Iraqi constitution.

The fight against ISIS militants were also addressed and Canada's role within the framework of the international coalition in the fight against ISIS and assistance to the Peshmerga forces was appreciated.

Moreover, the two sides reiterated the strengthening of relations between Canada and the Kurdistan Region in various fields.
