Darbaz Kosrat Rasul, Administrator of the Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), confirmed that negotiations to form the Iraqi government must enter a new stage.

On Tuesday, Darbaz Kosrat Rasul received Martin Jaeger, the German Ambassador to Iraq, and his accompanying delegation at the headquarters of the PUK's Political Bureau in Erbil.

The Administrator of the PUK's Political Bureau presented the PUK's views and confirmed that "steps must be accelerated and the negotiations must enter a new stage."

Over six months after the elections, Iraq has only been able to elect the Parliament Presidency. The country is currently at a deadlock as political parties have failed to reach an agreement on electing the new president and forming the government.

Another part of the meeting was to discuss the relations between the Kurdistan Region and the government and people of Germany, both sides emphasized the further development of relations.

Darbaz Kosrat Rasul also thanked the German government for their continuous assistance to the Kurdish people.
