Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, welcomed Elbrus Kutsheryev, Russia's ambassador to Iraq, at the PUK politburo in Erbil.

In the meeting the latest political developments and changes were discussed and the passage of Iraq's stagnating political situation was discussed.

President Bafel Jalal Talabani, referring to the situation in the Kurdistan Region, said, "We are happy to have a suitable ground for dialogue and understanding, and I hope that we will all agree on our demands with a national and responsible spirit for the sake of the people and entity of the region."

He added, "We have to go to Baghdad as one team to defend and protect our constitutional rights."

Regarding Iraq's unwanted political situation and efforts to reach a happy outcome, President Bafel said that everyone knows the PUK's stance and has publicly said from the outset that dialogue and understanding are the basis for solving the problems. "We are doing our best to gather and bring the different voices closer together for the stability of the country and to build a brighter future." He said.
