Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan in Dabashan, welcomed Elbrus Kutsheryev, Russia's ambassador to Iraq, and his delegation.

In a meeting, the latest political changes and the formation of the new Iraqi government were discussed, emphasizing cooperation and continued discussions on the stability of the country and resolving the problems between the region and Baghdad.

President Bafel Jalal Talabani pointed to the political situation in the region and the centre and the PUK's efforts, saying the PUK was eager to provide a decent and stable life for its citizens, and that they had worked hard to do so. "We must all work together for the future of the country and not sacrifice public and high interests for personal and party conflicts. The new government should protect the rights of all Iraqi nations and provide services to all individuals without any difference." he asserted.

In return, Russian Ambassador to Iraq Elbrus Kutsheryev congratulated the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan on the party's success in Iraq's political process and the success of its candidate for the post of president.

In the meeting, the two sides emphasized the continuation and expansion of relations between the two sides in the fields of diplomacy, trade and culture in the context of protecting public and high interests.
